Privacy Policy

Introduction

Welcome to HocusFocus. This Privacy Policy explains how Marian Cocota ("we," "our," "us," or the "Developer") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information when you use the HocusFocus mobile application, related websites, support channels, beta programs, and associated services (collectively, the "Service").

HocusFocus is designed to help users track activities, build routines, record reflections, analyze productivity patterns, and optionally use cloud sync, AI-powered features, movement tracking, and accountability tools. Because the Service includes optional features that use sensitive permissions, we want to be clear and specific about what data is involved.

This Privacy Policy is intended to support compliance with applicable privacy and consumer laws, including:

By using the Service, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Data Controller Information

For privacy questions, legal notices, or data rights requests, contact: support@hocusfocus.life

2. Information We Collect

We try to collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate, secure, improve, and support the Service. Some features are optional and collect data only when you choose to use them.

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

Account Information (Optional): If you create or use an account through Firebase Authentication, we may process:

You may use significant parts of HocusFocus without creating an account. Account creation is generally required only for cloud-based features such as sync across devices.

Productivity and App Content You Create: When you use the Service, you may create or store:

Profile and Image Content (Optional): If you choose to use image-related features, we may process:

2.2 Information Collected Through Optional Permissions and Features

Calendar Data (Optional): If you grant calendar permissions, HocusFocus may read event titles, times, and related scheduling details from your device calendar, and create calendar events based on activities or routines you choose to sync. Calendar data is used to support scheduling and productivity workflows. We do not use calendar data for advertising.

Microphone / Audio Data (Optional): If you grant microphone permission and record audio, HocusFocus may process voice notes, journal audio, and related audio metadata such as duration, file path, and timestamps.

Camera / Photo Data (Optional): If you grant camera permission or upload an image, HocusFocus may process verification photos captured for accountability features, cropped or compressed versions of those photos, and metadata needed to associate the image with a session or account.

Location and Movement Data (Optional): If you enable movement tracking or grant location permission, HocusFocus may process:

Location and movement tracking are optional features. They are not required to use the basic productivity features of HocusFocus.

Notifications and Device Scheduling (Optional): If you enable reminders, HocusFocus may process notification preferences, quiet hours, digest settings, and reminder timing and delivery metadata.

2.3 Subscription and Transaction Information

If you purchase or restore a subscription or other paid entitlement, we and our service providers may process subscription status and entitlement information, product identifiers, billing period, free trial status, renewal status, grace period status, and expiration details. Important: We do not receive or store your full payment card number. Payments are processed by Google Play. Subscription management may also involve RevenueCat as our subscription infrastructure provider.

2.4 Information Collected Automatically

Device and App Information: Device model, operating system version, app version and build number, device language and locale, and general technical configuration information needed for compatibility, debugging, and support.

Diagnostics and Crash Reporting: Crash reports, non-fatal error reports, operational logs and diagnostic information, and performance and stability signals. This helps us identify bugs, improve stability, investigate failures, and protect the Service.

If HocusFocus offers a "Usage Analytics" setting, that setting is intended to control broader product-usage analytics. However, certain diagnostic, fraud-prevention, security, billing, sync, or service-integrity events may still be processed where reasonably necessary to operate and protect the Service.

2.5 Information Processed Through AI Features

If you choose to use AI-assisted features, we may process the content you submit to those features, such as activity names or prompts, descriptions, scheduling context, and verification photos submitted for AI-assisted photo verification. AI-assisted features may use Google / Firebase / Vertex AI / Gemini services. We try to limit AI processing to content reasonably necessary for the requested feature.

2.6 Information From Third-Party Services

We use third-party service providers to operate parts of the Service, including:

5. Data Storage, Sync, and Retention

By default, much of your app content is stored locally on your Android device. HocusFocus uses protective measures such as private app storage and encrypted local storage technologies, including SQLCipher, where implemented.

5.2 Cloud Storage and Sync

If you enable cloud sync or use features that rely on cloud storage, some data may be stored in Firebase services, including account-linked productivity data, journal content and metadata, voice notes or audio files, verification photos, and other related content. Cloud sync may be a premium or paid feature.

5.3 Retention

We retain data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your device secure, protecting account credentials, using current app and OS versions, and reviewing whether optional sync, location, camera, or AI features fit your comfort level.

Where required, we rely on lawful transfer mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses and other safeguards recognized by applicable law.

9. Children's Privacy
